What is Health and Nutrition?
Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 10:00AM So what is health? What is “good” nutrition?
The answer is hard to come by in a society where McDonalds are in hospital cafeterias, the rate of childhood obesity is alarming, and doctors want to fix you with pharmaceuticals rather than prevent you from becoming diseased. In addition the field of nutrition is plagued with contradiction and disagreement - currently eggs are good for you, butter is better than margarine, and soy might give you cancer, BUT ten years ago it was the exact opposite.
We want to help you navigate this disorienting world of nutrition information by giving you simple, straight-forward education so you can make informed choices about what is best for YOUR body and YOUR lifestyle. The forum will be a new section in our bi-monthly newsletter – The Nutrition Nugget. It will include an article that focuses on a specific topic (i.e. fats, proteins, vitamins, fiber, water, etc.), as well as a recipe so you can easily incorporate the knowledge into your daily life. Most importantly it will stress that good nutrition doesn’t mean major sacrifice, it is simply a way of life and a place to find balance. Root believes Awareness/Education=Good Choices=Happiness, Health and Longevity and we apply this formula to every aspect of our lives, including nutrition.
